It’s fantastic that we’re able to have talented individuals from all over the U.S. as members of our Netsmart family. From California to New York, we have locations across the country that efficiently work together through collaboration and teamwork, regardless of distance. This summer, a group of FUTURES traveled to our office in Great River, N.Y. and report on their experience, sharing what it’s like to work with different teams and what they’ve been able to do during their time there. It’s time for another edition of Meet the Clinicians where we highlight one of our many talented associates and the unique clinical perspective they bring to Netsmart and our clients.
At Netsmart, we strongly believe that mental health is equally as important as physical health. Just as first aid may help someone with an injury in an emergency, so does Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) when it comes to someone experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis. We offer all of our associates the opportunity to take an eight-hour course where they learn about the risk factors and warning signs of someone in mental health distress and are equipped with the tools to help.
When you’re young and exploring a career path, the possibilities are endless. To get a first taste of professional life, many individuals choose internships or hands-on work opportunities. By doing so, students and young professionals can learn more about a particular field or industry and apply knowledge learned in the classroom with real-world experience. Once one decides to pursue an internship, the next step is deciding where to get that experience.
It’s thrilling that FUTURES from previous summers come back to join us for another 10 weeks of learning and real-world experience. With each opportunity, they’re able to expand their knowledge and build upon what they learned the previous year. Watch as returning FUTURES Alex Beattie, Jessica Jones and Tyler Michels explain why they made the decision to spend another summer with the Netsmart family and what they’re looking forward to this year.
This week marks the beginning of our annual FUTURES summer program, a unique experience for 40 college students from around the country. They join us at Netsmart for 10 exciting weeks where they will receive firsthand, real-world experience working in various areas of healthcare IT. Two former FUTURES and current Netsmart associates share some insight into their experience and what makes being a FUTURE unique.
