To welcome the 28 new Futures, in true Netsmart fashion, we attended an 80s themed skate party at the nearby Skate City. Although none of the Futures were born in that era, we all busted out our most bodacious outfits. Some of the most outrageous outfits included MC Hammer pants, neon leggings, and even a dudical He-Man costume. All of the Futures, their mentors, managers, and even the executives attended to give us a gnarly welcome.
One of the fastest ways to a Future’s heart is through their stomach, and Netsmart delivered! We feasted upon sliders, boneless wings (buffalo, of course J), and radical Icees. That’s not even mentioning the massive dessert tray: a flowing landscape of nuts, chocolates, pecans, and all sorts of other goodies. It was boss.
In addition to chillin’, there were bunches of great activities. Lots of us hadn’t skated in a long time, which brought quite a few laughs (and bruises as well)! Out on the skate floor, the dudes and dudettes brought out their bonus dance moves to the freshest beats. There was even a limbo contest, with two of our very own Futures, Claudia and Natalie, taking home medals. For those who thought skating was bogus, there was a photo booth with def props, the MASH game, and a small arcade.
Not only was this event a total blast, but also a time to meet and chat with the other Futures, their managers, and the executives. Let me tell you what, Mike Valentine has got some sick moves on skates. After he tore up the floor, and came Back to the Futures, we all exchanged high-fives in a relaxed atmosphere. It was plain to see that Netsmart associates both work hard and play hard.
We’re exceptionally grateful for the warm welcome to the Netsmart family and look forward to what the rest of the summer has in store!
