It’s the end of week six and I can’t believe how fast the summer is flying by. For the Avatar consultants, this has been our first week out of training.
When I heard that half our summer would be spent learning the software I was wondering why that was necessary, but as I start to understand the work consultants get to be a part of, I am incredibly thankful that Netsmart invested so much in helping us learn and feel prepared. Outside of the technical work, the people at Netsmart have been amazing. Throughout training it was so humbling to see how many distinguished associates were willing to spend multiple days teaching us, which was never easy, at the expense of their own billable hours. (Thanks to Mike Jones I know how important those are!) Beyond this, I couldn’t have asked for a better training class. You really get to know a group of people when you’re sitting in a room with them for eight hours a day and working through a software you know nothing about. Each Avatar consultant, whether full time or future, has become a good friend to me. I wouldn’t be able to do the work that I have done without them guiding and encouraging me, and also telling me riddles. Last, but certainly not least, I think Netsmart has the best internship program ever. In such a short amount of time, I have gotten to know almost every Future even though we work in different departments and different buildings. Ashley and Sara help foster relationships through the events they have put on, (my favorite so far being Top Golf which I couldn’t describe more vividly) and as a group we have started our own events and traditions such as game nights, ultimate frisbee, and celebrating every summer birthday. I could go into so much more detail about each of the things I’ve mentioned, but overall it has been a fantastic experience and I’m so excited to see what the rest of the summer holds.
