Happy Thanksgiving from Team Netsmart!
Are you up for a challenge? Every year we see posts on social media outlets about what people are thankful for during the holiday season. This season WE challenge you to express your gratitude with words AND live by them! #ntst #blog #gotgratitude
“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” ~ John Fitzgerald Kennedy Continue reading Happy Thanksgiving from Team Netsmart!
Coffee, conversation and building new friendships…
Here at Netsmart we like to be “unique”. We are not going to be like the other cookie cut outs and it may not appear to be all neat and clean around the edges, but that is how we like it. I am coming up on my one year anniversary here at Netsmart and I have been reflecting on my time here. What makes us different? What are my struggles and is it possible that others are feeling the same? The phrase “we move at the speed of thought” rings in my ears daily. As a new associate I own my own success. I want to be in the driver seat and I hope others feel the same. With that said, Netsmart Managers and Peer contacts own this process as well. Peer contacts and managers are the front line for our newbies. A peer contact can be a resource, a crutch and the sounding board. As a peer contact you are able to bridge the gap between being overwhelmed with information overload. Continue reading We are family… Coffee, conversation and building new friendships!

This happened on Friday July 25th when NTST had the Royals party porch rented out for our event. Early in the game, the Indians Carlos Santana hit a homerun that landed right in front of me. Beside me covering her face is my wife, Anni, and Margy Foody (Insight team) is to my left. Mike Jones is also visible to my right next to my wife. Anyway, I missed catching the ball but was able to retrieve it. As I held it up in celebration, the NTST team and other fans collectively yelled, “THROW IT BACK! THROW I BACK!”. In the spirit of team, I obliged and threw it back. I am really happy it didn’t hit Omar Infante on the infield…but it came close! Shortly thereafter my phone started blowing up with Facebook messages of the video, texts, and calls from friends and other NTST team members who couldn’t make the game. All in all, it made for a great story at a really fun event. Looking forward to the next one!

I had the pleasure and honor of providing the executive welcome to the new hire start group today. During the dialogue I asked the group how they learned about Netsmart and why they wanted to work at Netsmart. A number of the responses were expected… I have a friend here… I hear it’s a good place to work… I was looking for a company that was growing. One new associate said that Netsmart was recommended to her by a friend who is a Netsmart associate and told “everybody works hard here”. The new associate said that is why she wanted to join Netsmart. I thought it was a great response and reminds me that everybody does work hard here because the work that we do is hard. That’s why we choose to be here. To do work that is hard and to do it well. Here’s to working hard and playing hard!

The Netsmart office bustled with a burst of activity: laptop hoods were closed, binders and supplies were packed away, and FUTURES quickly took turns changing into shorts and sneakers; 5 o’clock had come, and with it Netsmart’s visit to Community America Ballpark to attend the Kansas City T-Bones game. Smiles flashed across the faces of my fellow FUTURES and I as we jumped out of our cars, tickets in hand, and headed into the stadium. Continue reading T-Bones Right Field Party Deck, Netsmart Style
On June 26th, all of the Futures got together for an onsite client visit to the KVC Prairie Ridge Hospital in Kansas City. While we were there, not only did we get to learn a little bit more about how our solutions impact lives every day, we also got to hang out with some of the kids there and do some team building exercises on a challenge course. One of the most distinguished attributes about working at Netsmart is that everyone genuinely enjoys working together, and collectively everyone has a great time. This is an especially evident in the Futures program. Since the beginning of this one-of a-kind experience, I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the other Futures and having the opportunity to work closely with each person.

Today we go from Futures to adventurists and take on the Kansas City Country Club Plaza for an “Instagram Scavenger Hunt.” As one of the social events planned for the summer, we are leaving the office around 2:30 and are on our way to the Plaza with clues in hand. This game will consist of a five team invasion, no speeding tickets, many hilarious pictures posted, and food to follow. I have been at Netsmart almost 3 weeks now, and I have learned it isn’t a true Netsmart event unless there is food or cookies.

Last night we celebrated the start of our 2014 FUTURES program at the College Basketball Experience. After a warm welcome by our CEO, Mike Valentine, over 100 Netsmartians from departments such as consulting, engineering, hosting, and finance were divided into 10 teams and sent on their way to complete 10 different challenges throughout the evening.
It was a great opportunity for us to get to know our FUTURES as well as introduce them to team members that they normally wouldn’t see on a daily basis as they will work in different departments.
While we are no Basketball champs by any means we still had a lot of fun shooting hoops! The quote of the night by an anonymous VP of Engineering was: You can tell that we are coders around here! 🙂
We are excited to have you here for the summer! WELCOME 2014 FUTURES!!!
– Sandra DeStigter, Recruiter
Today we will once again be kicking off the Netsmart Futures Program – for current college students! We welcomed 25 Futures to the Overland Park office this morning Monday, June 2rd.
Each participating organization is in the process of planning a meaningful work experience for each new Future. Participating groups are Consulting, Engineering, Cloud / Hosting, Finance, Talent and Culture and Sales Operation. There will be industry and engagement events each designed to foster learning, connect with Netsmart and/or explore the Kansas City area. Ultimately, we want successful Futures to choose Netsmart as their fulltime employer of choice in the future.
2014 Futures Program Changes & Additions:
- New York and Ohio offices will have candidates involved in the OP based program
- 10 week program– 8 weeks last year was too short as there is an extensive learning curve for the FUTURES
- Adding NetsmartLife blog
- Hosting a Kick-Off Event at the Sprint Basketball experience to include executives, managers, mentors, and FUTURES.
Follow our blog to hear firsthand from our FUTURES, Talent and Culture team and leadership.
Thanks to everyone involved in making the FUTURES program a success. Cheers to a great summer.
